Ecommerce Website Builders with Low Transaction Fees (2026 Comparison)

Which builders charge no transaction fee on your sales, which add a surcharge for outside gateways, and why cash on delivery sidesteps the question. Platform fee and gateway fee compared, with a worked example.

Yuplify, BigCommerce and Wix charge no transaction fee of their own on your sales, and WooCommerce does not either, so those are the low-fee choices. Shopify adds a 2% fee on Basic when you use an outside payment gateway instead of Shopify Payments. On every platform your payment provider still takes its own cut, and cash on delivery orders carry no gateway fee at all.

A transaction fee is a percentage the platform keeps from each sale, on top of what your payment provider charges. It is the one cost that grows with your success, which is why it matters more than a few dollars on the monthly subscription. This guide compares the platform fee and the gateway fee for each major builder, shows what they cost on a worked example, and says who should not switch. It is deliberately about fee percentages only. For the full monthly bill including domain and apps, read the cheapest e-commerce website builders compared on total monthly cost.

Disclosure: Yuplify publishes this page, so we are not a neutral party. Yuplify's figures come from our own pricing page and product. Competitor figures were checked on 9 October 2026 against public pricing reports, not the vendors' own pricing pages, which we could not open when writing. Fees change and differ by country and plan, so confirm each number on the vendor's own site before you decide. Where reports disagreed, we left the figure out and said so.

Two Fees, Not One

When a customer pays online, two separate charges can apply, and builders' marketing usually mentions only one of them.

  • The platform fee is charged by the website builder. Many builders advertise "no transaction fees" and mean this one.
  • The gateway fee is charged by the company that processes the payment, such as Stripe, PayPal or a local wallet. Every platform passes it on, and no builder can remove it.
  • A third situation catches people out. Some builders waive their own fee only if you use their in-house payment service, and add a surcharge if you connect an outside gateway. That surcharge is a platform fee in disguise, and it is the reason this comparison exists.

Transaction Fees Compared: Platform Fee and Gateway Fee

This is the table most searches are looking for. It lists what each builder keeps from a sale, and what you still pay your payment provider.

    BuilderPlatform fee on salesGateway feeNotes
YuplifyNone, on any planSet by your provider; cash on delivery has no gateway feeCard payments (Stripe) and courier booking need Pro
Shopify2% on Basic and 1% on Grow when you use an outside gateway; none with Shopify PaymentsSet by the gateway you connectShopify Payments is only offered in supported countries, so check yours. Reports disagree on the Advanced-plan surcharge, so we leave it out
WixNo platform fee reported on its e-commerce plansSet by Wix Payments or the provider you connectSelling online needs a paid plan
BigCommerceNone on any planSet by the gateway you connectPlans have annual sales limits that trigger an upgrade
WooCommerceNone from WooCommerce itselfSet by the gateway plugin you installYou also pay for hosting and extensions
SquarespaceNot listed: reports we found disagreed on which plans charge a feeSet by the providerCheck Squarespace's own pricing page

The pattern is that most builders have dropped a flat platform cut, but Shopify's outside-gateway surcharge is the notable exception, and it is the one that applies to sellers who cannot use Shopify Payments in their country.

What the Fee Costs You: A Worked Example

The numbers below are assumptions for illustration, not Yuplify data and not a forecast. Imagine a store that takes PKR 500,000 a month in card payments through an outside gateway. The gateway's own fee is the same on every platform, so the table shows only the platform's extra cut.

Platform fee on salesCharged on PKR 500,000For comparison
    0% (Yuplify, BigCommerce, Wix, WooCommerce)PKR 0Nothing extra
1% (Shopify Grow, outside gateway)PKR 5,000Twice the price of Yuplify Pro (PKR 2,500)
2% (Shopify Basic, outside gateway)PKR 10,000Four times the price of Yuplify Pro

The lesson is not that one number is good and another bad. A platform fee of 2% is easy to ignore at PKR 50,000 a month (PKR 1,000) and hard to ignore at PKR 500,000. Always run the sum at double your expected sales, which is how a surcharge turns from a footnote into a line item.

Why Cash on Delivery Changes the Sum

Most orders in Pakistan are paid in cash when the parcel arrives. A cash on delivery order never touches a payment gateway, so there is no gateway fee, and on a platform with no transaction fee there is no platform fee either. On Yuplify, cash on delivery is built into checkout on every plan, and the only per-order charges are your courier's delivery and COD handling. Ask TCS or your courier for their current rate in writing.

That means a store that sells mostly on COD barely meets a transaction fee at all. The fee question becomes important when you add card payments, so work it out before you do.

    What Yuplify Charges, Exactly

Yuplify does not add a transaction fee to your sales on any plan. Starter is free, Pro is PKR 2,500 (US$8) a month, and Business is PKR 14,999 a month. These are flat subscription prices, so your bill does not rise when your sales do. Online card payments run through Stripe on Pro, and Stripe charges its own processing fee, which Yuplify does not touch. Easypaisa is marked as rolling out and JazzCash is not supported, so we do not count on either here. See the integrations page for the current status.

How to Check a Builder's Fees Yourself

Pricing pages are written to be skimmed, and the fee detail is often a footnote. Use this checklist on any builder before you pay:

  • Search the pricing page for the words "transaction fee" and for "third-party gateway" or "external payment".
  • Find out whether your country is supported by the builder's own payment service. If it is not, the lower fee does not apply to you.
  • Check the fee on each plan, not only the cheapest. Some fees fall as the plan price rises.
  • Check what counts as a transaction. Some platforms charge on gift-card or store-credit portions as well.
  • Add the gateway fee yourself, including any fixed amount per order, because small orders feel it most.
  • Check the billing currency. A dollar plan moves with the exchange rate even when the fee percentage stays the same.
  • Who Should Not Switch

Low fees are not a reason to move a working store, and a lower fee is not the only thing that matters. Be honest about these cases:

  • If you already sell well on Shopify and use Shopify Payments, you pay no outside-gateway surcharge, and Shopify's app ecosystem is far larger than ours. Moving would cost you time for little saving.
  • If you run WordPress and are comfortable maintaining it, WooCommerce has no platform fee and gives you full ownership of code and data.
  • If you have a very large catalog, test any free plan's limits first. Yuplify's Starter plan caps at 30 products.
  • If your customers pay mainly by JazzCash, Yuplify does not support it today, so check your payment mix before you start.
  • If you sell in person as well, a builder with a point-of-sale system may suit you better than one without.
  • Switching also takes effort: product data, redirects and customer emails all need moving. Count that against the fee you would save.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Which ecommerce website builders have no transaction fees? Yuplify, BigCommerce, Wix and WooCommerce charge no platform transaction fee of their own, based on public reports and our own pricing. Your payment provider still charges its fee. Confirm on each vendor's pricing page.

Does Yuplify take a cut of my sales? No. Yuplify charges no transaction fee on any plan. You pay your subscription and your payment provider's own rate.

Kya Yuplify meri sales par commission leta hai? Nahi. Yuplify kisi bhi plan par transaction fee nahi leta. Aap sirf apna plan aur payment provider ki fee dete hain.

COD orders par kitni fee hoti hai? Yuplify COD par koi fee nahi leta. Sirf courier apni delivery aur COD handling charges leta hai.

    Final Thoughts

The cheapest platform fee is none, and most builders now offer it. Read the fine print on outside-gateway surcharges, test your fees at double your sales, and remember that cash on delivery sidesteps the question entirely.
